Google To Wind Down Stadia Streaming Service Three Years After Launch

But things are changing rapidly, according to US-based video game industry accessibility consultant Brandon Cole, with mainstream games that incorporate the needs of vision impaired players, and a range of audio-only games on the market.

While Cole grew up patiently playing his way through mainstream games that weren't designed with his needs in mind, he said some younger blind gamers have grown up with audio-only, although whether these are in fact better is a question of taste.

'He will tell you he has been over that line but he always comes back,' Myers said. 'Nobody is saying they don't want him around ... but [Wednesday] was not a good moment. ... The way the triggers give feedback, tightening up and adjusting, suggests ways games could use the tech for training, or as a guide. Doucet sees possibilities in "precision playing," but for Astro's Playroom the goal was to be simpler, more child-friendly. Deeper use of the triggers only comes in one area, where the crumbling blocks require some finesse to reach an optional goal. It's a start toward exploring other ideas.

"Video games are the one of the greatest mediums for escapism, because not only do they allow you to experience a story the same way a book or a movie would... you get to play those characters and interact with that world," he told AAP.

"While Stadia's approach to streaming games for consumers was built on a strong technology foundation, it hasn't gained the traction with users that we expected," Phil Harrison, vice president and general manager of Stadia, said in a blog post.

Green certainly has a reputation as a puncher, and has been caught swinging at opponents' genitals on several occasions, including once in the 2016 NBA Finals when he punched LeBron James' groin. Green was ultimately suspended for the following game

"Following discussions with game developers, we realized that 'sense of touch' within gameplay hasn't been a focal point for many games in the PS4 generation," says Takeshi Igarashi, VP of the Peripheral Design Department at Sony Japan, over email.
