1. iRobot Roomba s9+
iRobot was the first to introduce self-emptying robots with its Roomba i7. It has elevated the technology to a higher level with the s9+. This flagship model may be costly, but it comes with the best performance we've seen in any robovac and comes with upgrades that other brands could only dream of.
It first collects dirt in its Clean Base. It then emptys it into a large dust bag which you dispose of every 60 days. This is a great option for those who prefer to keep their home clean without touching it, but still want to have peace of mind knowing that their home is clean of germs and allergens.
The s9+ has improved corner cleaning capabilities that allow it to get closer to walls and is better in cleaning up spots. If it senses that a specific area requires special attention the app will then send it back there with a recurring schedule. If the area is very filthy, the s9 will return to it with a stronger suction until the entire mess is cleared away.
The s9+ can be controlled using the included app or Amazon Alexa (the s9+ is compatible with both) and allows you to provide full voice commands that include the ability to stopping, starting and pausing. You can also set a time frame for the robot to begin and stop its work or you can let it decide when it's ready to return to its dock.
The s9+ can do a fantastic job on floors that are unfinished cleaning small particles like rice and larger objects like cereal easily. It is also good in cleaning carpets with a low pile and has a strong suction, even when the dirt compartment is full. However, it does not perform as well on thicker carpets.
2. Roborock S7 maxV Ultra
Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra robot vacuum and mop is able to sweep, detect rugs and self-clean. It is one of the hand-off robotic cleaners that are currently available. Its advanced navigation and mapping systems provide superior maneuverability. The companion app allows users to select from a range of cleaning configurations. It also supports third-party applications that let you monitor your home as it is in action.
Like its predecessor, the S7 MaxV Ultra is excellent in sweeping carpets and hard floors. It scored well in our dirt pickup tests and was able to handle difficult-to-clean tasks such as the sand embedding test and the carpet deep clean test which we carry out by weighing the dust bin of the robot prior to and after a predetermined amount of time. The Shark IQ Robot XL has a powerful suction, and plenty of smart features. It comes with a self Emptying Vacuum-emptying bagless base, and maps your home while it cleans to ensure full coverage. You can control it using the SharkClean app or through voice commands with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. It also comes with physical boundary markers you can use to restrict its access to specific areas.
It's a simple, all-black style that feels and looks great. It is easy to assemble right out of the box since it requires only a few snaps for the side brushes and charging dock. The dirt compartment is small, however, so you may need to empty it fairly often.
In tests it was found that the IQ Robot XL quickly responded to app controls and performed well during cleaning cycles. The app lets you select power modes, alter settings, and Self Emptying Vacuum check the level of battery power while it's working. The app also has a Find Robot button that helps you locate the device if it gets lost.
As with other Shark products, the IQ Robot XL has impressive suction that can easily tackle dust bunnies and pet hair. The self-cleaning brushroll prevents hair from clinging to the machine while it combs debris. The navigation module uses sensors to scan its environment while it moves. However, the process is not as comprehensive as robots that utilize LIDAR sensors. It takes a few cycles before the IQ Robot XL completely maps your space.
In comparison to the iRobot Roomba 690, the Shark IQ Robot XL is easier to maintain, incurs lower costs for recurring maintenance and offers better performance across multiple surface types. However, the iRobot is more durable, charges faster while offering similar battery performance. It also comes with an extensive suite of automation capabilities that allow you to set up your home's coverage map using no-go zones.
4. Eufy 11S
The Eufy 11S robot vacuum is perfect for those who do not want to use the phone or voice control however, they nevertheless want a vacuum that can clean according to their schedule. The slim model is easy to install and maintain, and it's able to effortlessly clean dirt and dust. It is recommended for light daily cleanings in order to keep your floors looking great.
It's a little less impressive than the other top choices in our test program for vacuums, but it still offers some benefits that are worth a look. For instance, its slim size allows it to maneuver through furniture with a low profile that other vacuums aren't able to. However the iRobot is better-built and has a longer battery life, and soaks up more dirt and dust than the Eufy. It is also simpler to maintain and has less regular costs. It also comes with more features for automation. The companion app is better, Self emptying vacuum offering more useful information about the vacuum's current battery status and level.
5. Ecovacs Deebot Pro+
It may look like almost every other robot vacuum on the market however, this one has some nifty tricks to its name. It's more precise than other robots as it works at the millimeter level to identify small objects and plan a way around them.
ECOVACS App allows you to track the robot's progress and schedule cleaning sessions, as well as alter settings, from anywhere. It also allows you to set custom boundaries to give you better control of the areas where it cleans. This helps keep it from securing important family items, messy school projects, and laundry.
