The retailer has also started selling Primark items on its website. This isn't the first instance that the retail giant does this, but it is certainly welcome. Primark is renowned for its quality and affordable clothing and accessories, and has recently launched a range of exclusive Disney and Harry Potter products.

Another well-known UK merchant on this list is John Lewis, which sells many different products such as tech, appliances and homeware, as well as beauty, food, furniture and gifts. John Lewis has over 35 stores across the UK, including a luxury department store. In addition it also has a large catalogue of clothing from the UK's top brands.

Amazon Fashion Store

Unlike online clothing retailers that keep all of their inventory on display, which can be confusing and frustrating for customers, Amazon Fashion Store offers an experience that is tailored to each individual customer. The algorithm of the store selects clothes based on personal information supplied by the user, and customers are able to request more sizes and styles via touchscreen displays in each of the stores' 40 fitting rooms.

Customers are welcomed by staff who ask whether it's their first time in the store and offer to help begin. They're told to open the Amazon app and scan every item they notice on the store's racks or shelves, which will then allow the app to suggest similar items in line with their preferences. They're also asked to provide their style, fit, and other details via the app for more refined suggestions in the near future.

Once inside the store an employee will lead the customer to a fitting room where they'll be able to try on the outfits the algorithm has recommended. When the customer is finished with a particular outfit they'll be able to swipe the item up or down on a touchscreen to let them know if they like it or not. If they want to try other items the staff will request for them to return to the changing area with more options.

In addition to house brands like The Drop and Amazon Essentials, the store also carries other well-known brands, including Champion, Levi's, Adidas and Kendall & Kylie, along with a selection of shoes and accessories from BB Dakota and Dolce Vita. It also carries special edition collections curated by influencers.

Vargas was one of our experts who loved the Prettygarden collection. She described it as "the perfect mix of feminine and professional." She saw a lot of pretty, romantic pieces that would be ideal for summer brunches and bridal showers, while Laudort favored the collection's slick blazer dresses and jumpsuits with pretty details like lace and bows.

Another expert, GlobalData's Neil Saunders, was a less than impressed with the store. He said that, while the store was innovative in some ways however, it was lacking a perspective and was "too complicated." Saunders said he believes Amazon is still dedicated to brick-and mortar retail however, its decision last year to close its bookstores and 4-Star stores indicates that Amazon is focusing on what matters most to consumers.
