It is also possible to check the gap between the frame and the door to see if it is misaligned. If the gap between the frame and the door is greater than half an inch, it's likely your lock is not aligned properly.

An Allen key can be used to adjust door frame fixings. Once the fixings are in place then make sure to tighten them. Do not tighten them too tightly, or they could make the door sag.

Applying an oil-based lubricant to the lock is a good idea, particularly if you have a heavy glazed door. This will decrease pressure on the locking mechanism and prevent it from breaking.
