Amazon is a major player in the field of grocery retailing, despite the fact that it's not as well-known as it is in Britain or the United States. In the past, Amazon has invested in infrastructure and expanded their offerings. In the year 2018, Amazon Fresh was launched. While shopping online for groceries isn't yet at a point of saturation in the US but it is a growing trend for those who wish to avoid the hassle of driving to the supermarket.

In its attempt to beat traditional supermarkets, Amazon has launched a service called Amazon Pantry that allows customers to select household items from an array of 4,000 items. The service does not offer fresh or frozen foods. Amazon has been testing the service in London and is scheduled to roll out the service in other cities later in the year.

Amazon's new Prime service is intended to complement existing Prime subscriptions. It also has begun partnering with grocery stores to provide its delivery service. This includes an agreement with Morrisons which will permit Prime customers to conduct their entire supermarket shop online and get it delivered at the time the day is over.

Currently, the service is only available only in London and Home Counties. However, it will be extended to other locations by 2021. You'll need an email address that is valid as well as a postcode in order to avail the service. The Amazon Fresh app will guide you through the process of choosing your food items and choosing an hour-long delivery time.

The first till-less store opened in west London in 2021 and was the company's first venture outside the US. It was, however, closed on Sundays as were two other shops in East Sheen and Wandsworth. The stores used self-checkout models, which meant that shoppers could scan their phones to pay as they left.
