Dr Michael is currently in Newcastle to continue his studies at the Hunter Medical Research Institute, and to consult as a psychiatrist for ProCare. He was attracted to Newcastle by the amazing surfing, the balanced lifestyle and the spirit of community. He has extensive experience in the area of general adult psychiatry and in working with patients who have complex, difficult to treat symptoms.

He has expertise in many mental disorders and takes an holistic, recovery-focused approach. He is particularly interested in First Episode Psychosis, mood disorder including Bipolar disorder, Depression as well as anxiety, psychotic disorders, as well as alcohol and drug-related issues. He also has a keen interest in the relationship between physical and mental health.

Dr Janet Cheah is a medical graduate from Monash University. She completed her specialty training at the University of New South Wales. She is a consultant Psychiatrist since 2003 and currently is in private practice full-time. Private Psychiatrist Newcastle (N.I.Gh.T.M.A.Re.Zzro) work consists of one off assessments to understand diagnoses, second opinions, and longer term treatment involving both medication and psychotherapy. She has a special interest in brain injury psychiatry and the effects of physical illnesses on mental health.
