This includes artisans such as Gail's Artisan Bakery and C Lidgate and Booths, Whole Foods Market, Danone, Britvic, and Arla.

While the launch of this new service is bound to draw attention, its impact on UK sales at supermarkets will be small. Mintel's most recent online grocery report shows that more than half of online shoppers in the UK buy their groceries directly from supermarket websites. The biggest are Ocado and Tesco. The big four supermarkets are unlikely to engage in pricing wars with Amazon's size and will continue to rely upon their large store estates and Click-and-Collect services as well as national delivery options.

Amazon might also decide that partnering with existing supermarket chains is the best method to get into the eGrocery market. Amazon already has several of these agreements in place.
