The stoves come with a catalytic combustion engine, which can reduce the creation and accumulation of pollutants. The process is similar to the honeycomb catalysts found in exhaust systems for cars. It works by lowering flame temperatures which reduces smoke and particulates. The honeycomb eventually wears out and will need to be replaced.
